DARK DRAGONS ASTRONOMY
Custom logo design and brand identity for Dark Dragons Astronomy, a startup focused on astronomy electronics and accessories. This project focused on creating a unique, adaptable brand mark that blends elements of space, technology, and storytelling along with supporting marketing materials.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
Dark Dragons Astronomy is a startup, specializing in
the production of electronics and accessories for various amateur astronomy tasks. Rick and Jeff are a team
of amateur astronomist who began their journey by making improvements to their own observatory.
They decided to go into business together to bring their products to market. They reached out to me to develop
a logo for their launch that was unique yet adaptable to fit a number of different applications.
DESIGN APPROACH
Dark Dragons Astronomy gets it's name from Rick's daughter, who really enjoys the How To Train Your Dragon films. So, my goal with this logo was to come up with a design that meshed both visually strong elements of space and dragons.
The brand mark is a combination of the letter "D"
formed by the dragon's head and neck with the negative space forming the silhouette of a telescope. From there,
I added the "D" shaped logo in place of the letter "D" in Dragon's to form the wordmark. Finishing it off with a
red, off-white and grey color palette to give it a strong, fiery feeling one typically associates with dragons.
