TURF WARS TOURNAMENT
Logo and promotional design for the Turf Wars baseball tournament, an event hosted by Stars + Stripes Sports in Asheville, North Carolina. The project focused on creating a bold, location-inspired visual identity supported by marketing materials and apparel to promote the event and create a cohesive on-field presence.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
Stars + Stripes Sports hosts competitive tournaments and events for athletes across the country, bringing together teams and organizations at various levels of play. The goal of this project was to create a distinctive logo and supporting promotional materials for the Turf Wars baseball tournament, designed to stand out while connecting to the event’s location in Asheville, NC. The identity needed to be bold, recognizable, and adaptable across marketing materials, apparel, and event signage.
DESIGN APPROACH
The design approach focused on combining traditional baseball elements with visual references to the Asheville landscape. An emblem-style logo was developed using the shape of a baseball field, incorporating mountain forms at the top and a home plate outline at the base. Baseball stitching was integrated into the negative space to reinforce the sport, while bold, outlined typography was used to create a strong and energetic presence. Supporting materials, including a flyer and t-shirt design, were developed to align with the identity. The flyer adapts the organization’s existing layout system while incorporating the new logo, and the apparel design applies the branding in a way that translates effectively on the field and in promotional settings.
